A recent study greatly advances the utility of Telemedicine in the management of chronic diseases. A recently published study was performed in the VA system to evaluate whether telemedicine could be as successful as traditional in person clinical services. Over 800 veterans were enrolled over the five year study. The results indicated that telemedicine was JUST AS SUCCESSFUL as routine care at meeting health outcomes and lowering HbA1c. With telemedicine, however, veterans received appointments on average 27 days earlier! In sum, telemedicine provided quicker, more efficient, more convenient care without sacrificing quality or outcomes! A complete win!
